After watching the news segment, please answer as many of the following questions as you can (the more the better :)):
What did you learn about Osama Bin Laden? Why was he such a hunted person? What did you learn about his capture and death? What did you find most interesting about this news?
Everyone should answer these questions:
What do you think about Bin Laden's death? How do YOU as an American citizen feel about it? Was it justified? Should it be celebrated? Should it have been done? What do you think will come next? Since President Obama authorized the successful mission, how do you think it will affect his 2012 presidential campaign?
Be sure to include reasons for your answers!

ReplyDeleteI learned that he was the most wanted person in the world. Most specifically for being the leader of the top terrorist group in the world, Al Qaeda. But also because he was the mastermind behind the worst terrorist attack in the United States, which is now known as 9/11. The day 2 planes were hijacked by terrorists ordered by Osama to crash into the World Trade Center in New York City. I learned about 2 hours after it happened (5PM Sunday May 1, 2011) from my dad who works for Special Operations. He told me that Osama Bin Laden had been shot in the head by Navy SEAL Team 6, who infiltrated Osama’s “mansion” in Abbottabad, Pakistan. It took the SEAL’s 2 weeks to practice for this mission, to make sure they got everything right. The mission only took 40m. To when the helicopters landed, and to when Osama was shot. Because my dad is part of Special Operations, and a few years earlier had trained SEAL Team 6, I learned a lot more about his death than most people have discovered on the news. The mission was called “Geronimo”. Personally I’m glad he’s finally dead, he killed millions of innocent people and had people perform some of the most terrible things I have ever heard of. In a way it should be celebrated, it is a great day for the United States. But Muslim people that live in the U.S might take it the wrong way, and we should respect them. I think next there will be a negotiation of peace, or the followers of Osama will come after us. Obama did not do much in this mission, although he is taking a lot of credit. He gave the okay to go in, that is all he did. The Navy SEALS did the rest. So I don’t think it will affect him much in 2012. It was a matter of time that we found Osama and killed him.
ReplyDeleteSo right away I want to say that it was a long time coming and he was a terrible person and should have been killed no matter the consequences. Another thing that I want to say is that some people don't even know if he is dead and I am not sure if I agree with that because they are saying that they are going to capture him, and get all of the information out of the guy before they finally kill him. I have been reading some news about it lately and learned of the many things that the general public probably had no idea about such as how he has been kicked out of a few countries and was the head of many attacks. But even before he died, they had another man take over his position and has been doing his job ever since he went into hiding (al-Zwhahiri). I also know that many things are unknown about the attack on his compound in Abbottobad. The news keeps changing all of their stories and I even heard that the only way they new at first that he was dead was from twitter posts. I know there are going to be many things wrong in the future due to this attack that the seals did though. One thing that I think will happen in the future is that our Pakistani relations will decline. I think that that will happen because they most likely new that Bin Laden was hiding there because it was in such close proximity with one of their military bases. Another reason for the decline in relations will be due to the fact that they have been known to harbor terrorists in the past and that is time to stop. I feel that the credit for all of the moves that were made should go to the SEALS instead of the president because he was just the guy that they needed to ok the mission. Although I do think that the president will have higher votage in the polls because of all the things that he did in that one week. But that alone won't get him elected again. I am just hoping that the presidency doesn't go to trump.
ReplyDeleteI did not really learn anything from the news about Osama Bin Laden other than he had been shot in the head and killed by Navy Seals. Osama was such a hunted person because he was the leader of the terrorist group, Al Qaeda, who was also responsible for 9/11. The thing I found most interesting in the news was the fact that they had previously practiced this mission and how it was only about two weeks- a lot less than I would have thought. I agree with the killing of Bin Laden because he was an evil man who was the reason for many of innocent peoples' deaths. So, yes I do think it should have been done especially because I think it may have saved us from worse terrorist attacks. I do fear however what may happen out of retaliation by Bin Laden's followers.
ReplyDeleteAfter watching several news clips about Bin Laden's death, I learned that he was the most wanted person in the world and was hiding in a mansion in the city of Abbottabad, Pakistan. A Navy SEALS team executed a well-rehearesed mission and took control of the compound in under an hour. The operation was a success and Bin Laden's oldest son, another man, and a woman used a shield were killed in addition to Bin Laden himself. What I found most interesting was the fact that Bin Laden was hiding in a pretty conspicuous mansion only a few miles away from the Pakistan equivalent of West Point. I may be going out on a limb here, but I'm pretty sure that the world's number one fugitive doesn't get to hide out down the road from a national military academy without a little help from the nation itself, despite Pakistan's claims of uninvolvement with fugitives like Bin Laden.
ReplyDeleteI feel that although Bin Laden deserved everything he got for killing thousands of innocent people, his death isn't going to stop terrorism and will probably only elicit a retaliation from terrorist groups. Although it appears to be a great victory for the American people - vindication for 9/11 - Bin Laden had long since been replaced as the head of Al Qaeda and his death has little effect on the operations of the terrorist group besides maybe angering its members. I think everyone is expecting some kind of terrorist attack in response. As for Obama, I agree with Kait and Alex that he's receiving way too much credit for this; all he did was give the go ahead, it's the SEALS team that deserves recognition. Regardless, I think Bin Laden's death will definitely increase patriotism and may play into Obama's chances for office because he was the executive power in office at the time of the Al Qaeda figurehead's death.

ReplyDeleteOsama Bin Laden was one of the main planners of the attack on the US on 9/11 and was a leader of Al Qaida. Through the news, I learned that his sister had brain cancer and then the authorities used a bit of her brain cells to use DNA analysis to make sure that it was, in fact, Osama whom they had killed. One of his wives also identified that it was indeed him. I also learned that the SEALS swooped in in helicopters and infiltrated his base and exterminated him, leaving a bloody scene behind. Some of the interesting things that I heard/saw were the pictures of the Obama administration sitting watching a live video feed from a camera mounted on one of the soldier’s helmet, and that there is information and images that are currently being withheld from public view. It was also interesting to learn how the government has had a pretty good idea of where he was for the past six months.
ReplyDeleteReally, I feel that Osama’s death is not really anything to be celebrated and that it wasn’t really all that just. With Saddam Hussein, he was at least given some sort of “trial” while Osama was just assassinated. I also think that they have not truly accomplished anything by killing him. He was a retired millionaire and I’m sure that Al Qaida has a setup to replace him with the next person to take charge, just like how the V.P. would take over if the president was killed, and then there is a whole line of people after him. I also think he didn’t necessarily deserve everything he got because, just like with the Holocaust and Hitler, he may have been the main leader, but he wasn’t the only one involved. There were plenty others who planned the 9/11 attack who are worth finding just as much as he was. Also, I think that it is not necessarily something to be celebrated for two main reasons. (1) It is kind of sick to think about that people are celebrating someone’s DEATH (murder really), no matter how evil they may have been. And (2), all it has really done, as heightened security proves, is to increase our chances of another attack, which I believe they won’t do for quite some time, just when we think that we’re safe and security slackens. Lastly, for Obama, I think that this is likely to be the reason that he will get reelected in 2012 because, up until now, most people have been disappointed with presidency and that he has not done much. Before, it was not likely that he would be reelected, but now it is much more likely because he will be seen as a “war hero” against terrorism in a sense.
After watching a news segment covering the death of Osama bin Laden I learned that he was residing in Abbottabad, Pakistan; his home located just a few miles from a Pakistani military base. Osama was the number one person on the FBI’s Most Wanted list of fugitives. He was sought after because he was the leader of the terrorist group Al Qaeda, developing and funding the plot on the United states that killed just under 3000 people, a day known as 9/11. I learned that the entire mission took only forty minutes and no Americans were injured in the process. The plan called “Geronimo” was executed by Navy SEALS Team 6. From what I learned of Osama’s death he was shot twice once found in his bedroom, once in the chest and again right above the left eye. The troops then removed his body wrapped him in white cloth and buried him at sea. What I found most interesting about the news was how the compound he lived in was in such close quarters to a Pakistani military base. I think that this is going to harm our relations with Pakistan because as a country I feel we are very skeptical of how much the Pakistan government really knew on his location. I feel that Bin Laden’s death is completely justified. He is responsible for thousands of innocent peoples deaths. Although this will not return any loved ones I believe that the families of victims and American citizens will feel that justice has been reached for this man who scarred our country. As an American citizen I feel that our country is in great danger. I can see members of Al Qaeda and Osama’s supporters executing an awful act of terrorism on the United States for taking down their leader. I think that it should have been done because although he was not as active in recent plots he was still very much symbol of terrorism and to have that destroyed I think that shows we are really making an effort to conquer terrorism. His death is something that I think our country should be proud of but I don’t agree with the parties and celebrations being held. As many people have mentioned before I do think this act will benefit Obama’s upcoming campaign mostly because Osama has been a target for numerous years and to finally be successful I think that says a lot to the American people about the promises our government makes.
ReplyDeleteAfter watching a news segment on Osama bin Laden's death, I learned a few more things than I had already known just from listening to people talk about it. Bin Laden was the leader of the biggest terrorist group, Al Qaeda. Almost a whole decade ago, Osama led the worst attack on the US we had ever seen, 9/11. In total, this attack killed about 3000 men, women, and children. After that, he went into hiding and we weren't able to locate him. When Obama took office, he made it the CIA's number one priority to find and kill bin Laden in our war against Al Qaeda. I learned that Obama and his team had heard about bin Laden's hiding spot last August, but they waiting until last week to finally act upon it to make sure they had enough information and were certain he was there. Bin Laden was hiding in Abbottabad, Pakistan, which is located just a few miles away from a Pakistani military base. On May 1, a team of Navy Seals raided Osama's house, took part in a "fire fight", and then proceeded to shoot bin Laden in the chest and head. One important thing I learned is that the US is not, and never will be at war with Islam. Bin Laden is not a Muslim leader, he was a mass murderer or Islamic people as well as people in Pakistan. Pakistan is our ally in the war against Al Qaeda.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, I think that Osama's death was absolutely justified. not only did he kill thousands of people in the US, but he also killed many people in his own country. He is the leader of the biggest terrorist group in the world. Even though this doesn't change the fact that people have lost their friends, relatives, or loved ones, it gives a lot of people in the US a sense of satisfaction. This man is single-handedly esponsible for the biggest terrorist attack our country has ever experienced, he got what he deserved and we should celebrate it.
Even though we should feel accomplished, this war with Al Qaeda is definitely not over. They are going to retaliate. Of course they're going to be mad, we just killed their leader. Although we should be aware of this happening, I believe that Obama has done a good job preparing and will keep it under control.
I think this act will definitely benefit Obama with his campaign in 2012. Because of the fact that Bin Laden has been our target for so long and now he's finally gone is something people will always celebrate. Obama will be known forever as the man behind the killing od Osama.
I did not learn much about Osama Bin Laden, I heard the things that I had all ready known. He was such a hunted person because he was responsible for thousands of deaths of civilian men and woman. I found most interesting was how quickly the news traveled throughout the country. Also how the people responded to the news. It was very surprising to me that people started chanting “USA” during the Mets and Phillies game, also that people began to gather outside the White House. I never thought that people would act this quickly.
ReplyDeleteI think that Bin Laden’s death was unnecessary. He was no longer doing anything worth noticing and it would have been better to capture him. As an American citizen I feel both happy and nervous about the killing. I feel happy because justice was served for all of the people that he was responsible for killing, I also feel nervous because retaliation is very likely to now come. His followers are not going to just not lets this go without getting (attempting to get) their revenge. I feel that the killing was justified, because he was behind thousands of men and woman dying. I think that his killing should not be celebrated because someone’s death is not something to celebrate about no matter the circumstances. Even though he did many evil things his death shouldn’t be celebrated. I feel I should not have been done, I think it would have been much better if we had captured him. I feel that the retaliation from him being killed this way will be much less instead of going to trial then receiving the death sentence. I think that retaliation will defiantly come next; the al-Qaida will not let this slide. There will be retaliation in some for towards the US. I feel that this will help Obama in the 2012 election because a major event occurred during his term. The voting population will not want to change their president during a time of crisis.
After watching the news, I felt I was only refreshed on topics that I had already known. Osama lead the attack on the Pentagon on September 11, 2001, killing thousands of people. Also, he was a famous terrorist, that was considered very dangerous to many people, and his main target was to harm the USA in any way possible. I learned that the US received hints on where Osama was in hiding, and this information was kept from the general public for privacy reasons.
ReplyDeleteI think that Bin Laden's death was completely justified. He killed thousands of people over the years, and there is no saying that if he was kept alive, he would have killed thousands more people. I, as an American, feel very skeptical about his death. Although he definitely deserved to die, there is no telling what the people who believed in him will do to us now. The followers of Al Queda have already promised revenge to the people who were involved in Osama's capture and death, and this is a little worrisome to the citizens of the United States. I think his death should be celebrated because it gives closure for the millions of families that lost loved ones in the war, or during 9/11. Next, i think that we should focus on finding the rest of his followers and do the best we can to make sure that they won't harm any more people. I think that this will help Obama's 2012 campaign because overall, I think most of the American's wanted and supported Osama's death, so this will have a positive effect on Obama's campaign.
By watching the news segment, I learned that he was killed in a mission executed by the Navy Seals, and he was shot in the head, and none of the Navy Seals were harmed. I also learned the Afghan people weren't extremely happy that he was killed. One woman as even annoyed, complaining that she didn't think it was okay for the US to come over to another country and kill him. This is what I most interesting about the news; the almost negative reaction from the Afghan people. Other citizens seemed to share this woman's feelings. Osama was such a hunted person because he was an Al Quaida leader and largely responsible for 9/11.
ReplyDeleteI feel his death is completely justified. He was an evil person who is responsible for thousands of peoples' deaths, and used religeon to justify it. And by using religeon as a defense, even if he didn't intend to, he created a sterotype about the Muslim people and Islamic religeon. Killing him was something that needed to be done to continue to help fight the war on terror, and to take a stand against it. His death is something that many people might feel should be celebrated, but I personally don't see the need to. For example, I can understand someone who lost a loved one during 9/11 or in the war would want to celebrate his death.
Retaliation is something we have to worry about, but I think that if it doesn't happen soon it won't be as much of an immediet threat. Something that I keep hearing people bring up is how his death will only bring retaliation, and while I believe this is true and is something we have to be careful of, I feel that many are over looking the obvious. He was a leader and a figurehead for Al Quaida, his death is a huge loss to them. If someone shot and killed out president, yes we have a VP to take over and we would want to retaliate, but I think our first priority would be to secure ourselves and protect our own country. As for Obama and his campaign, I think he will use this as evidence of being successful over the past four years, even though many believe he hasn't been.
After reviewing some different news segments, I learned that Osama was in hiding in Pakistan, and he was the most wanted man on the FBI fugitives list. I learned that an American Navy Seal was the one to kill Osama. I heard various news story stating how this was the greatest achievement in effort to defeat al Qaeda, and also how Obama said justice has been done. I remember hearing that after the US forces killed him they took his body and DNA tests were done to make sure it was in fact Laden, and after testing it was announced that it was. An article from ABCnews.com says, “(this) marks a victory for America, for people who seek peace around the world, and for all those who lost loved ones on September 11, 2001.” Bin Laden was hunted because he created and funded the al Qaeda terror network. These terrorists were responsible for the September 11, 2001 attack. The information I found most interesting was how Obama called George Bush personally when he found out this exciting, reveling information. I thought this was kind of cool and it must have meant a lot to Bush hear from Obama personally. I was also interested to find out what is in store next for America. I am interested and anxious to see what will happen with our troops overseas and to see what the al Qaeda’s next move is. I was also interested in the person who actually killed Osama. His name has not been released but I was extremely interested to hear about what is going on with him and his emotions/feelings.
ReplyDeleteI believe that Osama’s death is completely justified because what’s his life to us, after him and many other terrorists came into our country, killing thousands of our ‘brothers and sisters,’ and ruining the Pentagon ten years ago. His death isn’t going to give us back all of the innocent, loved ones we lost, but this must feel like revenge and a relief for especially those families who lost someone on that terrible day. To know that this awful man is dead, must make those families sleep easier each night because if their innocent friends and family died, he had no right to survive either. I believe this is something to be celebrated because it is a sign of relief for all American citizens, showing how justice have finally been served. I feel relieved, personally, because my cousin has gone to fight overseas three times since the 9/11 attack, and I can only imagine how this news made him feel. This was something that needed to be done for the past ten years. I feel as though, al Qaeda will try to retaliate, and get back at us for killing their leader. I think we need to be very prepared and expect/be prepared for the worst, but hope for the best. This way we will not let our guard down. For the next campaign, I think this is a bonus that will give him an advantage because this has been one of America’s goals for the past years and the fact that he was in office while it finally happened is an excellent plus, and I feel as though he deserves the advantage.
Based on what I learned watching the news was Osama Bin Laden was the top most wanted on the FBI list. I also learned that he was found in Abbottabad, Pakistan. He was such a hunted person because he was the man who planned the 9/11 attack and he was also the leader of the Al Qaeda. What I learned about his death is he was shot by the Navy SEALs. What I found most interesting about this news was that he was right under our noses the entire time and we didn’t even know.
ReplyDeleteWhat I think about Bin Laden’s death is that I’m glad he is gone but I’m also really scared of what might happen because of it. There were so many people that hated him there but there were also so many that liked him. I absolutely think it should be celebrated but in time, not right away because we still don’t know what the outcome will be. As bad as it is to say, I honestly think we are going to get attacked.
Like many, the only new thing I learned about Osama bin Laden is where he has been hiding all of these years, and how the United States was able to locate and kill him. I read that a very elite team of navy seals were the ones who invaded bin Laden’s home and shot him. I also found out that the navy seals knew exactly what the inside bin Laden’s “mansion” looked like, and had planned out their reaction to every possible thing that could have gone wrong. I found this the most interesting, mainly because I am not sure how they found out what the inside of his home looked like.
ReplyDeleteHe was so hunted because of his high position in the Al Qaeda and the fact that he took responsibility for the 9/11 attacks.
I have mixed feelings about the news of bin Laden’s death. I think that it is good that he was killed for a few reasons. For one, it ensures that he is no longer able to lead any more terrorist attacks on the United States. Second, it shows strength against our war with terrorism. And last, it may leave some who lost loved ones on 9/11 finally feeling satisfied. However, I also realize that even though he was killed, it does not at all mean that this is the end of terrorism. I understand that he could easily (and may have already) been replaced.
As an American citizen, I feel proud of my country for accomplishing a goal that we have had for a long time, but, as mentioned above, I also feel afraid that we may be attacked and more innocent people will die. I would say that it is justified & I think it should have been done, just because he assisted/led in the killing of thousands on 9/11. However I don’t think that it should be celebrated, because if our country celebrates death than we sink to the level that the people in the Al Qaeda are at, even though he was such a horrible man. I am not sure what will come next, but I think that our relationship with Pakistan may suffer, not just because we snuck into their country, but also because I think we suspect that Pakistan knew that bin Laden was hiding there.
Lastly, I think that this will help President Obama be reelected in 2012 because it is a big step forward for our country, and it shows that his position as commander in chief has been very successful.
After watching multiple news segments, I learned that Osama Bin Laden has been wanted since 1998 which I thought was interesting because since I was little I have known him as a mass murderer and religious fanatic that is responsible for 9/11. I also learned that he was found by American Navy Seal in his compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan and that he used his wife as a human shield! Everyone thought that he was hiding in a cave, but he was actually hiding in plain sight in a middle class neighborhood. I thought it was interesting that he was living near the Pakistani military base and they didn’t know that Bin Ladan was there. Bin Ladan was such a hunted person because he killed so many people by crashing plains into the twin towers in NY and the Pentagon in Washington.
ReplyDeleteI remember when I was little I was scared of Osama Bin Laden. I remember being scared that something like 9/11 would happen again but closer to my home, so I must say that I feel relieved and I do think it should be celebrated because the hunt has been more than ten years long and I think it is a good thing that it has happened. I think it is a step in the right direction to making our country a better and stronger place. Hopefully, our country will come together and become stronger than it ever was just incase of a response attack. Because President Obama authorized the successful mission I think many people will support him and vote for him in his 2012 presidential campaign. Many citizens will be relieved to hear this news and feel safer because of it. Citizen will feel proud that our country has kept its commitment because of President Obama.
osama bin ladan was one of the most wanted people and he was involved with the twin towers crashing on 9/11. I learned tha Osama bin Laden was shot in the head by a navy seal and that he was hiding near a military base. I thought it was interesting how fast the news spread, i heard about this on facebook the morning after it occured and the news also said that there was a guy who was tweating about the event as they happened which i thought was pretty cool. personally i think that Osama bin Ladan being dead is a positive thing, as i citizen i believe there is some chance of retaliation but thats alway expected. i think that his death was most definatly justified. I'm not sure whats to come, Osama's followers are probably upset it would surprise me if they werent, so we might hear from them soon. i think that it should be celebrated but mostly just in the sates. i think that this will absolutly affect Obama's 2012 re-election. i heard on the radio that he has already gone up 9 peoints and is currently are 56, and i think that his number will continue to rise. should it have been done i dont know, i'm not sure, i'm not for killing people even if they are awful, i think that maybe caputureing him would have been a better idea, in my opion.
ReplyDeleteI think that Bin Laden's death is a good thing and also a bad thing. Now they will want revenge on us because we killed him and we have to worry about another terrorists attack. It's a good thing because Osama killed thousands of innocent people and deserved to die. People who lost family and friends from the attack on 9/11 feel a little better that the US still felt they had to kill Osama. I do believe this was the right thing to do but it really shouldnt be celebrated because it is just one person. I already knew about what Bin Laden did so nothing was really new to me after his death. I think a lot more people have gained respect and interest in Obama because we have been looking for him for ten years and he signed off on the plan that killed the man that many people hated. My overall perspective is that this was the right thing to do but we just need to be aware of another attack.

ReplyDeleteAfter watching the news segments about Osama Bin Laden's death I learned that he was involved in three bombings including his attempt to bomb the world trade center in 1993. He was such a hunted person because more tha one country was affected by his terrorism and killed many people. The thing i found most interesting is that he tried to use his wife as a human shield or that his daughter is cooperating with U.S. forces and is telling us information.
ReplyDeleteI think Bin Laden's death can be a good thing as well as bad because I feel that even with no significant leadership Al-qaeda will try to retaliate in a very dangerous way. As a citizen I am excited about this because he has been hiding for so long and hurt or killed so many innocent people. I think that it was definitely justified because he was one of the most disturbing people in the world. I'm not sure if his death should be celebrated but people should definetly be happy because of all of the things he did to our country. I think that they had to kill Bin Laden because it relieved our country so much. I truly think that Al-qaeda is going to try to retaliate in some way but i think that we are going to be prepared and ready for their attack. I think that the death of Bin Laden will definitely help Obama in the race in 2012 but I dont believe that it guaruntees him re-election.

Osama Bin laden was a very hunted man because he murdered many people. He also is the leader of Al-qaeda. Al-qaeda has attemted at bombing or destroying major buildings in the US multiple times. He was one of the most wanted people in the world by the US. I learned that the US had been planning this attack for months. They made a replica of where Osama was in America and practiced the attack multiple times. The most interesting thing was deffinately how the guy was tweeting about the attack. He had no clue what was going on and was tweeting about how there was a helicopter flying, and it turned out to be the death of Osama.
ReplyDeleteI think its good that we finally killed this man but i dont know. Its a good thing that they dont have a very experienced leader but maybe they dont need him. On the news it said that Al-qaeda promised revenge. I think this is very bad because they destroyed the world trade center when they didnt have a good reason. Now they have a good reason, so imagine the damage they could do. They all have nothing to lose now so i think they are gonna send everyone at us. I dont think us in Hudson will be harmed but America will probably take a big hit. I think this will help Obama get re-ellected even though i feel like he didnt really have a lot to do with the attack. The soldiers should get more attention then Obama.
This blog hates me!!!! It just deleted everything I had!!!
ReplyDeleteAfter watching a few new segments on Osama's death I didn't really learn anything new, just things I had already known. Osama was killed in Abbottabad, Pakistan while in his mansion. He was shot in the head and tried to use his wife as a shield. He was killed by a group of the Navy Seals. I found it most interesting that they tested his DNA with DNA from a family member to make sure the body was really Osama. I think that people who don't believe that Osama was really killed are just being dramatic and they should have a little faith in our military.
I think that the killing of Osama was justified. He was responsible for so many deaths and so much suffering. He truly threatened the security of the US. I don't think any American would say they would want a repeat of 9/11. I think that his death will be celebrated when we remember the attack on the Twin Towers on 9/11.
As far as what might happen next, the US should be even more careful with US Security because there are still plenty of terrorist just like Osama that are even more angry at the US for what happened. I think that Obama will definitely use the death of Osama to his advantage in his 2012 campaign. I believe that he has every right to because it is a great step to end the war against terrorism. The death of Osama is a great success in US History, something that we will all be telling our grandkids about.
I learned that Osama founded Al Qeuda.I learned that he was found in the heart of a barrack town living not too far off from a military base in a "mansion" that was actually a dilapidated white stucco-roofed building and that he was killed leaving a blood stain on the concrete floor. Perhaps he was such a hunted person because he founded a leading terrorist group and is allegedly responsible for numerous detrimental attacks aimed at our country. What I found most interesting about this news was that he was located close to a military base, and in fact, seemed not to be in hiding at all and clearly the government overseas knew that the US was after him and still didn't turn him in. Maybe the government still couldn't find him, but it's nearly impossible that the military didn't know, so maybe they're not exactly working with us as we suspected. I think that it's a big step foward towards the liberation of repressed middle eastern peoples from dictatious tyrannies. I definitely think it was justified as he was a keystone in the plot resulting in permanent destruction of American trust and the desolation of thousands of people due to the deaths of their loved ones from terrorist attacks. If people want to, they could celebrate it, as it is a big step foward for our country's safety and years worth of military efforts expended on the middle east to restore the peoples' governments. It definitely should have been done. Even though this may have a short-term result of a bitter terroristic comeback recieved from Al-Qeuda. I think that a lot more conservatives will show more support for Obama becuase of this.
ReplyDeleteI really didn’t learn that much about Osama Bin Laden, I all ready knew a lot about him from the start. He was hunted so much because he was the most wanted man on the planet because he planned the 9-11 attacks and killed many people and started the war. I learned about his capture is that a team of navy seals on 3 attack helicopters went in to kill Osama Bin Laden. One of the three helicopters had a malfunction and it crashed the seal team had to destroy it so the enemy could not use the technology. The seal team then breached the room where Osama Bin Laden was and it was dark so his wife came at the lead seal team member and they shot her in the leg. Then one of the seal team member shot Osama in the chest he was still standing so they took the fatal shot to the head and he went down. I found most interesting on the news is the people who think that is was not the real Osama Bin Laden and they are trying to say he really didn’t die. I think that is totally ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteI think about Osama Bin Laden’s death is that we finally got him and that it is good that he is dead because he cause so many deaths and he hurt so many people he deserved to die. How I feel as an American citizen is that we finally got revenge on the man who hurt our country the most. Yes it was justified. I think the death of Osama Bin Laden will not be forgotten and people will celebrate it. Yes it should have been done. I think that the followers of Osama Bin Laden will want to take revenge and want to hurt us more. I think it will make his presidential campaign will make it have more votes for him. It says in the polls that every one of his polls went up.
I think Bin Laden's death was a good thing. He killed thousands of people. It was justified and I think it's OK that people celebrated. I think this will help Obama in the 2012 election because he's the one who finally killed Bin Laden.
